iTunes could not copy “track” to the iPod because the file could not be converted

I have an iPod Nano I was trying to load up with some favourite tracks from artists I like. The Nano only has 16GB of storage, and I’m using about a third of that space already to manage podcasts. So I’m using the iTunes option to “Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps” AAC to get as many songs on the device as possible.

This worked well for all but three of the tracks in my library where I was presented with the cryptic error message:

iTunes could not copy “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” to the iPod because the file could not be converted

How to change iTunes device backups storage location in Windows

Recently I noticed the Windows partition on my Windows Home Server was running critically low on space. Given that I store most of my data on separate drives and partitions, I thought this was a curious problem to suddenly run into.

One use of my Windows Home Server is to use it as an always-on iTunes server that stores all my content, and serves it on-demand to my Apple TVs, iPhone, iPad and computers. All of my iOS devices sync to the iTunes server. It was when I connected my iPad to the Windows Home Server and it complained that it was unable to save my iPad backup to the computer that I suddenly realised where all my C: partition space had gone. iOS device backups. How to store more music on your iPhone or iPod touch

Making the most of the storage space available to you on your iPhone or iPod just got a whole lot easier thanks to a nifty iTunes software update from Apple. If you are, as I was, running low on free space on your iPhone or iPod touch, this news should be music to your ears.

Using this method I will describe, I freed 8.5gb of storage space previously occupied by my large library of music synced to my iPhone. No music was lost. There was no real noticeable deterioration in the quality of sound coming from my earphones. The process did take 9 hours to complete, but it was well worth the wait in my mind!
